Wow we’re already at Episode 48. The South African Guild of Motoring Journalists (SAGMJ) bursar, Richard Macaskill joins us this week to see another side of motoring journalism. He even brought with some of his own news and insights. We are without Tuck this week, while he struggles to get his race car ready. We told him cannot be referred to as the tame/professional racing driver if he doesn’t actually ply his skills. It was motivation enough to get him back on the track.

An intimidating view
International news dominates with many new vehicles breaking cover ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show. If you are in the market for a new car for around R400 000 (BMW 325 money) then you have to listen to review of the Chevy Lumina SS.

As we near our one year anniversary we find that ZACS has matured a little bit. For instance, Trevors, Patrick and Christo go on this week about road safety, roof strength and Bentleys, while garish colours and strange paint jobs seem to dissapoint. Oh my, what has become of these four crazy car nuts? Download the Episode 47 show to find out more.

What a pretty car. This is what good car design is about...

Ooh la la

The team tries hard this week to make sense of hybrids, hydrogen and fuel saving technology. In a world that is changing, is it slowly heralding the death of the petrol engine? One might think just that, but then the Volkswagen Golf TSI comes along; probably one of the most astounding cars to come along this year, but Trevor van de Ven won’t buy it, why?

The 3-point seatbelt turn 50, saves many lives.

The space wheel shows what is used on the moon, but will it be the tyre of the future on earth?

Seven more episodes to go and the ZA Car Show team will have produced a year’s worth of motoring goodness direct from the shores of South Africa – that place south of Botswana, for Kim Kardashian.
In case you were wondering where the show was last week, we had such a good chat with Des Fenner of General Motors, we decided we could not let you hear it until all the top-secret stuff he mentioned to us has been officially announced. That’s our story anyway. The interview with GM will be broadcast towards the end of August right before it launches the Cruze (oops).
This week our hybrid expert is on leave which saves us from focussing too much on the environment and instead ponder about the stupidness of the evergreen Citi Golf from VW, some green BMWs, a pretty Merc station wagon and some Audi prices. We also go off-roading in a Jeep Wranger Rubicon and Land Rover Defender 110 SVX60.
