Firstly, apologies for putting up this episode later than usual. Starting with episode 45 – recording tonight – we will upload and post episodes within 12 hours of recording. The freshest news from SA’s only motoring podcast, just like you’d expect. There’s also a little something in the works for our 1st birthday. Watch this space.
Coming at you this week with the mad flavour of ZACS which is high in auto news insight an opinion and low in Christohydrates. The truth is Christo was swanning about on the Port Elizabeth Riviera, South Africa testing the new VW Passat CC (sorry we’re not allowed to call it a Passat anymore).
The team covers what turned out to be a very busy news week for the motor industry both locally and abroad. Hopefully it’s a sign of good things to come.

The pretty new SAAB 9-5. Trevor van de Ven has a thing for Swedes

The last time Christo tried to say "Sexy Ass" to a Mazda driver he got a blue eye.

What an interesting week. At ZA Car Show we cater for everyone – how else are you supposed to make an informed purchasing decision? In one week the ZACS team experienced one of the most raw, fun cars complete with a 6.1 Litre V8 HEMI engine and at the same time the two entry level 1.6 litre four-pots from Renault; the Sandero and Logan.
The motor industry also celebrated a significant milestone, hybrid and electric vehicles and some Chinese investments.

The union of Autos has hit the ton.

Underrated, crazy power.

Underpowered, overrated.

We are not entirely convinced that manufacturers ever plan on a global unveiling anymore because it seems every new model is leaked well before the official launch. It’s no different this week with at least three new models revealing what lies beneath the duct tape and dustbin bags.

Good homage to the original 300SL, not entirely sold on the design yet
Have you ever considered an MPV? It might seem like a strange question, but one that is rarely anwered in motoring magazines. They have their place and we have out reviewer: Tuck – sometimes race car driver, sometimes race consultant, “just like Schumi.” All we know is that for an unmarried man with one kid he has an unusual fetich for MPVs. He reviews the Chrysler Voyager while the rest of the team share their opinions on the motoring industry, new Hybrids, dodgy Italians and frisky Fords.

Tuck loves vans, we love him for that. Otherwise who else would review it?

We had fun this past week. Tuck was off at an SA Racing Legends dinner the night we recorded the show and we had to record without him. We’re still not quite sure how he managed to get that right, just how we’re not sure what Aston was thinking when it decided to launch a mini-car. However, in the week that was, there were a couple of tight models released from BMW. Some interesting cars too. The three-strong team get to do without Tuck’s butting-in, once again managing to disagree on model launches and two of the road tests of very different cars.

This is the nice BMW press shot... (click the 'more' link for the one we were talking about)

Some more pretty BMWs. This one looks particualrly good for some reason, click 'more' to see er, more.

Subtlety's the key, new 308 at a quick glance is not very different to outgoing 307cc...
