Three up, the team is without Christo van Gemert this week in a show that it filled with opinion and news. This past week we saw GM on its last legs as a solvent company, Porsche with some dodgy financials and hidden loans and number of smaller brands looking for buyers. We also take a look into the local motoring news, hold off on the review of the BMW Z4 and deliver our driving impressions on the Audi Q5 3.0 TDI, an SUV that we wanted to hate.

Coming at you live from the heart of Sandton is South Africa’s only motoring podcast, the ZA Car Show. Now on Episode 35, there seems to be some interest from listeners, which brings about another one of the infamous ZA Car Show challenges. Trevor Tuck puts the team to task so find a scratch for an itch that he has. Christo and Tuck also offer a review of the new Audi A6 3.0TDI, which has, quite possibly, the largest boot of any sedan we have tested. 176kW means it is also pretty brisk, although it appears the Audi calms you down rather than encourage you to use all of its power.

If pulling teeth was any fun, we would have done so in this episode of ZACS. Following a quiet week in local and global news, the team of Trevors, Christo and Patrick reflect on the ailing auto industry, which seems as dead as the sales volumes in South Africa. The guys, after some packed shows of late, also [finally] deliver reviews on two dramatically different cars which they had on test: the 2009 Ford Ikon 1.6 Ambiente and 2009 Jeep Cherokee Limited 3.7.

The end of April, despite the countless holidays and only 12 or so full working days, sees not only the team of Trevors, Christo and Patrick wondering how they are going to cope with the next five days work week, but the motor industry in general remains a state of turmoil.  The team put forward thier plans for survival, although if you’ve heard thier car reviews, this could be interesting. ZA Car Show also discusses some new motoring concepts soon to launch in South Africa together with the all new Volkswagen Golf, or is it…?
