For the last time in 2008, the ZA Car Show team (with some help from the CarToday forum) helps out with some really useful and amusing travel tips. Drive safe!
Thanks for your support in 2008 – next year will hopefully see us cover even more motoring events, news, launches, sport and even feature a couple of motoring personalities.
Remember to enter the competition to win a TomTom One GPS – just listen to episode 17 for all the details. Closing date is December 21st, and the question isn’t that difficult to answer.

We’re back on track coming at you with the great sounds of smooth soothing voices…who are we trying to kid? The regular team of Trevor Squared, Patrick Gearing and Christo van Gemert do a final wrapup of the show for 2008. There is a competition giveaway of a TomTom One V4 which we will detail in a separate post together with some really insightful banter.
In this episode we discuss:
- The US auto industry bailout plan, there is hope for Chrysler and GM or is there?
- Update: GM could be bankrupt within weeks
- Tesla the electric car people beg for dough
- Volvo announce plans for a micro-hybrid for 2011…while Ford enters discussions to sell the car brand to the Chinese
- Volkswagen Golf VI pricing for SA. Some good some bad, suddenly the Scirocco will be the pick for hot hatch fans
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class pictures leaked

Concept: Beauty
-

Reality: Beige.Matches your hearing aid.
- Audi R8 V10 revealed. V10 Power sourced from the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, but why not a diesel V12?
- Formula one standardising engines, tender issued to Cosworth; is this the move that saves the A1 GP?
- Race of Champions 2008 this weekend 14 December, no not the breakfast of champions
- ZACS Challenge: Choose a hot/warm hatch for under R220 000
- And more…

After what seems like a hiatus with the mishap of Episode 16, we are back in full force (kind of) with a show packed with new car news (surprisingly) and some car reviews.
In episode 17 we discuss:
- The Audi A5 Convertible. A5 = handsome; A5 convertible = pretty
- The King Of The Mountain event held on the Gydo Pass in the Western Cape- when a motorsport spectacle goes wrong. Shocking
- MINI unveils the new convertible – is it new, it’s so hard to tell these days?
- The four-door supercar, Porsche Panamera (Flash version) or non flash news
- SA’s NAAMSA figures for November 2008. Shocking. For the long media release, click on this coloured word, but rather listen to the show
- Toyota sells dangerous Hiluxes, and provides a solution: new tyres.
- SA Car of the Year 2009, the nominees are…[drum roll]
- Test Driven: Facelift Ford Focus ST
- and more…

Right, we messed up. Actually, our recording computer messed up. So this week we will not be bringing you an episode 16. Since Monday we’ve been toiling, trying our best to recover the recording – featuring special guest Russell Bennett, of motoring journalism fame – all to no avail.
There was a fatal error, and most of the recording is marred with digital distortion and pops and hisses. Not pretty. It’s the recording-studio equivalent of a backfire and leaky headgasket.
Regular programming will continue this Friday, with some of this episode’s content repeated in the “real” episode 16, for posterity.
Sorry for the inconvenience. We still love you.
